This Time Last Year….

this time last year things were different

not the same

i still was me

and matt was him

and our kids were them

my dog turned into

two dogs..

“welcome Molly

how do you do”

(Boone is getting use to the idea)

three frogs died

one still kicks eating little fragments of thrown pellets into neglected water

wine still pours

friends are real

laughter seeps out of  all corners of the day

PUck

this ime last year

i touched his hand

i watched them grow

just as i did this morning

this time last year we pulled out the christmas tree and hung ornaments

santa blew up as tall as 50 feet

turkey was cooked

birthday’s over until next year

discussions of religion and politics continue open ended

bow

this time last year

 pandora’s radio blasts silent nights

frozen pizza was the norm

money flew left and right

this time last year the wind blew

the birds flew

and i knew

i knew that time was slipping

slipping

slipping

moving forward

to a time that existed outside my head

the future is now my present

the presents are under the tree

tree

this time last year

i was

living

breathing

living

awake

knowing only one thing

that if i get to this time next year

i will

celebrate with open arms and say

“thank you”

i am grateful for this

time this year

 with the ones i love

and the life i live

each time

each year

each

day

year after year after year….

whiteflower

this time next year i…..

I am a self taught photographer and mixed media artist with a degree from the North Carolina School of the Arts in classical theatre performance. Stage was my first love and brought me into the world art while photography is what made me want to stay. I am married to superman, and am the mother of three little super-ducks. I studied creative writing at the Univeristy of Tn and classical drama at the NC School of the Arts, and a Masters in Education with concentration of inclusion and curriculum. I've liived in NYC and LA for the past decade and moved back to TN for some home cooking and back yard fun . I spend most of my days getting little ones through life and playing in my studio. I sell my work through different venues and am really happy where I find myself these days. I love to drink a bottle of wine (with my hubby) coupled with extra cheddar blast goldfish! Having kids has changed my life, the arts has shaped my life, and my soulmate continues everyday to walk through my life beside me. What else could a country city girl like me need.
